I think I would have to agree with you. I heard about that story, and it's depressing. Damn you PhirePhreak... 
This simply goes against the proactive goals we are trying to reach in the Security Industry. You try to learn about the attacker, protect your network, monitor and log their malicious activity, and look where it could land you...
Nevertheless, I still think HoneyPot technologies are the next wave, especially as they get more and more simple to setup and "administer."
Opinions are like  holes - everybody\'s got\'em.
