    Groovicus:

From a new install of Access - create a new blank db. Go File - get external data - link or import, (either will do for this). Select the source db and see if it opens. If it's security is controlled programatically this will almost certainly circumvent it. OTOH, If it is already using Access security you will get the same message you get now.

Oh, and before you do that..... Try holding the shift key down while you open the database. That will also circumvent some programatic security if the author didn't take the time to disable the shift key function, (which takes a little time and many authors don't know how or can't be bothered).

Specialist: It might not be in groove's job description..... But..... Would you have said that if you knew your SSN was in that file? Probably not...... I think there are a large number of people whose details are in that file that would thank groove for their concern and attempts to prove/fix this situation.

Specialist, you're right, it's not in my job description....I'm just a lowly nobody on the totem pole here....so fired or not, I feel it is my responsibility. As an employee that runs the apps, MY info is in there also. They won't fire me anyway, nobody else wants this job 8*)

We paid over $400 per license, and purchased alomost 150 licenses. Their software is crap, and I would like it if a little lowly nobody could show them that.

Tigershark...thank you, that got me where I needed to be...I get to make somebody unhappy today.

Groove: $60k for crappy, insecure software utterly sucks..... I see it alot though where software is written and touted as the be-all and end-all software to people that they hope don't know computing very well.

I commend you for your persistence and do the right thing attitude....

Glad to be of help..... Go make someone unhappy, 'cos it was really rather easy wasn't it......

Did you use the <SHIFT> key or the import?
