    Recognizing Network Card in Redhat

    I have another one.
    Nvm the boot and partition one i installed redhat successfully.
    Now i have another problem.

    I cant get Redhat to recognize my network card i have a broadcom 440x 10/100.
    It can only recognize another broadcom model.
    Is there an update or something that i can get to recognize my network card

    theve both got drivers for linux on the pages, i surspect you`ll have to complie it yourself but its a lot easier than you`d think. The drivers proberly got step by step instructions

    I got the drivers but redhat wont read off of a fat16 formatted floppy. So i formatted the floppy in linux and now windows says it isnt a formatted floppy so i cant put anything on it until i format it in fat16.

    How do i get the drivers over to linux do i have to burn them to a cd?

    It would probably be easier to burn them onto a CD, since your having problems with your floppy drive.

    Depending on what version of RH you're running, it should auto-mount the drive, and the CD should appear on your desktop. Just try ejecting the CD tray, placing the CD in it, and closing the tray all while in RH. Again, it SHOULD load your CD-ROM.

    Copy the drivers into something like /usr/local/src, untar/unzip the files into the dir, and install.

    I burned the rpm to a cd and i was going to extract it (following the directions in the readme)and it said i couldnt make the directory /usr/src/redhat. I thought i had made myself an admin or whatever the highest rank is when i installed it, but i cant make directories except in my home directory. I checked the user accounts and i didnt notice anything except the groups section where there were a lot groups that i could assign myself to. any answers as to how i can enable myself to make directories.

    Yes , login as root cd to /usr/src and type mkdir /usr/src/redhat..
