Thank to all who have replyed, the help is very appreciated, to clear a few things up it's an old hp with winxp= home edition on it, 256 ram, the noise is coming from the cpu itself somewhere, the cpu is actually my moms and at her house where i posted this message from, I'm going back over there to try out all the suggestions, but when it shuts itself off, I know you need to wait like 20 or 30 seconds before cutting back on but on this the wait is like 15 or 20 minutes, i did delete the drivers before and reinstall, got the same thing, think I'll keep the printer disconnected with no drivers installed and see what happens, again thanks

AhHa!
15-20 minutes.......................that is how long it takes to cool down! It is the CPU fan that has failed, or is on its way out. Make sure that it is not just a wire obstructing it, and that it is clean.
If those aren't the problems then you need a new fan.
Good luck

You also might try to download motherboard monitor (free) http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ and see how hot your processor is getting. If it is the fan, then your processor should keep rising up in heat until it reboots.

Depending on the age of the "box" if you purchase a new fan, a replacement CPU (chip) won't be that expensive. If you've cooked that chip a few times, it's on borrowed time.
