I can't say i dislike *porn* in general oh well im a guy...But to the extent where little children are exploited is just plain jane old "wrong" and i think TH13's response simulates my thoughts as well...Let the authorities handle it..

I think that Val has a point here:

but what about those people in internet chat-rooms who "groom" young children??
I do not believe that any "entrapment" defence legislation should apply to this crime, we are dealing with perverts here? they are mentally flawed and a danger to society, it does not matter how they are identified.

I do not believe the argument that "my client would never have thought of doing such a thing until the FBI tricked him into it" works here. I would go further and say that failure to report such an approach to the Authorities is also a crime "aiding and abetting" over here?

\"Look, Doc, I spent last Tuesday watching fibers on my carpet. And the whole time I was watching my carpet, I was worrying that I, I might vomit. And the whole time, I was thinking, \"I\'m a grown man. I should know what goes on my head.\" And the more I thought about it... the more I realized that I should just blow my brains out and end it all. But then I thought, well, if I thought more about blowing my brains out... I start worrying about what that was going to do to my goddamn carpet. Okay, so, ah-he, that was a GOOD day, Doc. And, and I just want you to give me some pills and let me get on with my life. \" -Roy Waller

This sad story is taken from FBI.gov website.

10 YEARS OF PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN
Cracking Down on Sexual Predators on the Internet

A decade ago, a 10-year-old boy disappeared from his Brentwood, Maryland, neighborhood. Within weeks, the investigation would uncover two pedophiles and a larger ring of online child pornographers. Within two years, it would spawn a major national initiative that is now the centerpiece of the FBI’s efforts to protect children from predatory pedophiles in cyberspace.

Here’s how the events unfolded: When FBI Agents and Prince George’s County police detectives went door-to-door to talk with neighbors following the boy’s disappearance in 1993, they encountered a pair of suspicious men who had been “befriending” local children, showering them with gifts and even taking them on vacation.

Evidence followed that the men had been sexually abusing children for a quarter century. More recently, they had moved online, setting up a private computer bulletin board service not only to “chat” with boys and set up meetings with them but also to share illicit images of child pornography.

That, in turn, led investigators to a larger ring of computer pedophiles. When a similar case with national reach turned up the following year, the FBI realized it was onto an alarming new trend: sexual exploitation of children via the Internet.

A Program Is Born. In 1995, the FBI created its Innocent Images National Initiative (IINI). Its goals: to break up networks of online pedophiles, to stop sexual predators from using the Internet to lure children from their families, and to rescue victims.

Today, 28 of the FBI’s 56 field offices have undercover Innocent Images operations. More than 200 FBI Agents work these cases. Some pose as teenagers or pre-teens in chat rooms to identify “travelers” who seek to meet and abuse children. Others focus on dismantling major child exploitation enterprises.

Since 1995, we’ve opened more than 10,000 total cases and helped secure nearly 3,000 convictions.

Keeping Safe. To report child pornography and/or potential cases involving the sexual exploitation of children, please contact the Crimes Against Children Coordinator at your local FBI Field Office. You can also file an online report at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline at www.cybertipline.com; these reports are forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

In Memoriam. So what happened to the missing 10-year-old-boy whose case started it all? Tragically, he was never found. It is to him – and to the countless victims of child sexual exploitation over the years – that the FBI’s Innocent Images initiative is dedicated.

    Very Sad. I say killemall!

by "should we stop child pornography"....who is WE? Should WE stop the hate websites too?

    IMHO
There's a good reason why we have special departmetns in the FBI doing exaclty what you want to do. Thats another good reason to not take everything upon yourself to fix because u could get screwed. By all means I disagree with child porno and i believe its sickening.

I don't know RiOtEr personally... but I don't think he is... he's trying to get a rise out of you cos he likes getting red dots... allegedly he hates us all too...that right RiOtEr

however I think RiOtEr has raised a semi valid point....I don't expect this to be popular but bear with me.....

not that long ago (thinking of parts of early Victorian England here and parts of Europe) it was considered acceptable to have sex with boys and girls as young as 12 (possibly younger but I'm not sure). By todays morality this would be considered paedophilia, so has society really changed that much? Clearly some people like to have sex with younger boys/girls - I'm not saying it's right but just acknowledging that people like this do exist. Please note In this question I am not including some of the types who like to watch/have sex with girls/boys between the ages of 1- 7 (I know they exist) neither am I including those types who use torture (either mental or physical) on persons under the age of consent. These types have severe domination/inferiority complexes and are frequently mentally unstable.

With that proviso aside I'm wondering how far would someone define a paedophile?? Would anyone having sex with someone under the legal age of consent (even if the minor has given their consent - sometimes they do) be labelled as a paedophile??

In case your wondering why I'm asking this question... it's not because I spend much time thinking about it but here in the UK on Ch4 there was a documentary series recently about the age of consent and minors having sex so the subject is still fairly fresh in my mind. I'd just like to hear the opinions of folks round here

I don't think we should take those sites down. Merely find out the people running them and post their information for all to see.

Hmm.. Just try looking up "kiddie" or "child porn" in Kazaa or Google and see how many matches you get.

This thing really has to stop. How can anybody get horny while watching this? They should at least keep it to themselves.

should we stop stop child porn sites
The question is, ARE we going to stop child pornsites? There is already a law stating that we cant view or host child porn, but not many people makes an effort to enforce it. Theres Warez that can be easily found through google, people teaching each other how to make bombs (anarchy books), Movie/game piracy. People do illegal things everywhere, its just the people that dont give a crap.
