How stupid do they think we are?
I recently got this email, i'll let you read it in a second. This is probably a well known scam, but it's the first time i've ever gotten one of these.
FROM: Mr. Oseni Tanco
First and foremost, I apologized using this medium to reach you for a
transaction / business of this magnitude, but this is due to
confidentiality
and prompt access reposed on this medium. It is necessitated by my
urgent need
to reach a dependable and trustworthy foreign partner.
My name is Mr. Oseni Tanco of the Democratic Republic of Congo and One
of the
close Aides to the Late President LAURENT KABILA (may his soul rest in
peace).
In unfolding this proposal, I want to count on you, as a respected &
honest
person to handle this transaction with sincerity, trust &
confidentiality. I
have decided to seek a confidential co-operation with you in the
execution of
the deal described hereunder for the benefit of all parties and hope
you will
keep confidential because of the nature of the transaction.
Due to the military campaign of LAURENT KABILA to force out the rebels
in my
country, I and some of my colleagues were instructed by Late President
Kabila
to go abroad to purchase arms and ammunition worth of Twenty Million,
Five
Hundred Thousand United States Dollars only (US$20,500,000.00), to
fight the
rebel group. But when President Kabila was killed in a bloody shoot-out
by one
of his Aide a day before we were schedule to travel out of Congo, We
immediately decided to divert the funds into a private security company
here
in Congo for safe keeping. The security of the said amount is presently
being
threatened here following the arrest and seizure of properties of Col.
Rasheidi Karesava (One of the Aides to Laurent Kabila) a tribesman, and
some
other Military Personnel from our same tribe, by the new President of
the
Democratic Republic of Congo, the son of late President Laurent Kabila,
Joseph
Kabila.
In view of this, We are seeking your assistance to front as beneficiary
of the
said funds, More so, we are handicapped in the circumstances as we do
not
operate foreign accounts.
We have sufficient ''CONTACTS'' to move the fund under Diplomatic Cover
to a
security company in europe in your name. This is to ensure that the
Diplomatic
Baggage is marked ''CONFIDENTIAL'' and it will not pass through normal
Custom
& Airport screening and clearance.
The information I gathered from an ex-colleague who has worked in your
country
has encouraged and convinced us that with your sincere assistance, this
transaction will be properly handled with modesty and honesty to a huge
success within two weeks.
Please discuss the modalities and what will be your share (percentage)
for
assisting us. I must use this opportunity and medium to implore You to
exercise the ultmost indulgence to keep this Matter extraordinarily
confidential.
Please endeavour to reply me immediately for further clarifications.
Best Regards
Oseni Tanco
i'm thinking of replying with this:
'Mr. Tanco,
I regret to inform you that I have submitted your to my local branch of the FBI. Please feel free to put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.'
What do you think?

Good way to reply. But that has to be the most creative and story literature-type scam I have ever seen.

Ugh, can't teach some people anything. THIS is how you reply:
Dear (Whoever),
Thank you for choosing me and having your trust in someone like me. It's not often people trust me with anything. I have a lot of money in the bank and I'm willing to float you some extra funds to get my money back, and some trust! (This section makes them think you're an easy target because you're desperate to get back trust that you've screwed up, and they think you have money).
I can send you up to $20,000.00 but first, I need about $3,000.00 in cash to get it from the bank. I have a lot of money in the bank, but some if it's not exactly legal, so I have to bribe someone to get it for me. (If they reply asking if they can just withdraw it themselves, set up a bank account, and call in the FBI, silly ****er, stings aren't just for bees )
Anyway, I'm not going to teach you how to scam a scammer, that's my job, but you can go from here.

i do, it makes ao different from other sites. something fun for the site, something to try to make good posts, etc for just so you have "this many points." The people that don't give a **** about the antipoint system are just hardcore ao people, (or really old members) or people that have had a problem with the system of some sort. Now this is very general, i'm sure there are others. such as yourself, which you are now going to tell me your "This is why i dont give a **** about the ap system, general response which has probably been said over and over again.." but why doesn't everyone just realize that hey, the ap system is fun. it makes the site fun. it makes the site have something over say security-forums.com for instance.
Jack, you others.. get the **** over yourselves. the ap system is here for our use, to use as fun, to recruit people to the site, something different. it was a good idea, at least appreciate it by not degrading the system as a whole. If you don't like the ap system dont come to ao, because ao's backbone is the ap system.
(i know you are going to tell me you were here before the ap system etc.. but jp wouldnt have gotten half the members to stick around if it werent for it, admit it)

Checkout http://www.419eater.com/ - They EAT 419 Scammers
Acturally, they do exactly what you are trying to do. Gore, you might want to post some of your baits there. I found the site not too long ago, but it should be a lot of fun. Although acturally getting money from the scammers is of dubious legality, seeing as you scammed them...
BTW, this was /.'ed a while back - "The Tale of The Painted Breast" http://www.419eater.com/html/joe_eboh.htm

Apparently you do . And the reason I said that was because I tried greening gore for a good post and it said I had to spread.

That's probably true. And yeah, I think the AP system is somewhat fun. It does seperate us from other site's.

Ahh, I am not bitter because I was banned. And did you not follow the bandwagon to have your other account removed with me? haha
Good observation! Now you get a cookie for Detective of the week!

er0k, no, JP's site before the AP system actually meant something. After the forums and the AP's took over, it was never the same again. Admit it.
