Bush is lucky that he didn't use Beckham-footage, or the US would be bankrupt paying his fees
[immature comment]Yeah but his wife is so freegin HOT![/immature comment]

It could be said that you're lapping up Bush's propoganda just as fast Tiger Shark. It all depends on that perspective you talk about so often.
My perspective in this: The sole fact that he is able to say that about bush, should show how lucky the lil' bitch is...and how ingrateful as well. I seriously don't get these people...

The main issue here IMHO is did bushs advertising team get permission from the Iraqi football team or even olympic commity to use their image. Isnt that one of the your most basic civil rights being able to decide wheather or not your image is used to promote a political party or agenda you do not support?
Just like Kerry showing a picture of his fellow vets, while only 1 of the people on the picture supported him.

Iraqi soccer players angered by Bush campaign ads
These people need to learn how to use the proper words in their titles. As the article goes on to say, ""Iraq as a team does not want Mr. Bush to use us for the presidential campaign," Sadir told SI.com through a translator, speaking calmly and directly. "He can find another way to advertise himself.""

I don't see him being angry...rather calm and direct...SO WTF?

BTW their team is not shown in the AD that they were refering to, so no it was not changed. That was the original AD as shown on TV {I've seen it} and the only thing that refers to Iraq in that ad, is their FLAG! Not even the swimmer shows any sign of being Iraqi. So why the **** does he have his panties up in a bunch? Some people just wanna bitch just because they can...?

    Here's the AD BTW:
    BUSH AD

    Ingratefull ??

Let's say you get rescued by some *insert group with weird belief you don't support* from a burning house..

Would you want them to use you as in their propaganda for their *insert crazy scheme they have you dislike* ??

It's not about politics.. it's rather about copyright (in the largest sence)..
If Bush's advertisement company wants to use them they should come to them first and ask for their permission.. or even pay up !!
I mean the add campains in US politics run in billions of dollars (wasted money)..

    Jinxy old chap....

Since there are no images of the football players then copyright is irrelevant. The name of a country is not copyrightable, therefore copyright is irrelevant.

Basically their new found access to the media is giving them the opportunity to spout off like so many who are granted that ability often with rather dubious qualifications to do so.

I also note in another version of the story that they admit to being glad Uday is no longer in charge.... They don't exactly thank anyone for that but at least Sports Illustrated had the "integrity" to report the answer to the question. However, they did go on to say that their freedom isn't really good enough when damage and death took place to make it happen. If it was so much easier I'm sorta wondering why they didn't just ask Saddam and Uday to leave when they were in power.... Surely, they would have gone... wouldn't they?????

PS: Thanks for the heads up on the MD5 thread.....

But Jinxy, their picture is not being shown....the ad doesn't even talk about the Iraqi soccer team...so I don't understand what their problem is? The only thing that remotely refers to Iraq is their flag being shown, and the Afghanistan flag as well. I didn't know it violated copyright laws to put another country's flag which you "Liberated".

    Neh.. then you are right.
    I misread
who is using the Iraqi Olympic team in his latest re-election campaign advertisements
for: used the Iraqi football team in...

But I still think he should donate some money to the Iraqi olympic team for using them in his add..

Er... What's the current bill for "re-organizing" the Iraqi Olympic Committee..... Pretty high I would guess..... and you want to give them more.... Feel free.... Just keep your sticky liberal fingers out of my wallet when you do it.....

    Advertisement == Commercial == $$$ !!

I don't want to give them a gosh-darn-thing.. hell I don't even give my own olympic team an endorsement..

I wouldn't neither . I did though, send $50 to the Special Olympics team...and they sent me a sticker for my car "I support the Special Olympics".

I volunteer for special olympics. Lol the stories I could tell you, in fun. Like the time I was recording the shot put and the biggest guy I ever saw tossed the shot into the crowd. Damn.... no one got hurt so looking back I find it hilarious. Good kids those people are, those game are their life.
