Fascinating thread - a lot to take in. I'll do some googling but may be back to ask experts here for further advice about some of the matters raised.

*thinks Specialist should finally write a tutorial on these claims, given the compromise that he can interject as many poop references as he desires*

Curiosity is such a dangerous thing, but what they hey?

    If you don't trust Tripwire

I'd suggest making some well tested backups on either cdrom or dvd along with a
boot/root rescue diskette write protected also verify this diskette is new
and has no errors in it's sectors.

To do an integrity audit just do tar dzf /dev/st0 the --diff option will report
to you the differences of your clean backup on dvd and what's on your
computers harddrive if a Hacker altered permissions and ownership on
your system file it'll show too when you compare them.

Hmm, ok, thanks. I'm looking for more of a program if possible. I'd really not like to have any other CD-ROMs or anything. Anyway to do this?

Assuming a Linux setup, how about:

    SamHain
    AIDE
    ViperDB
    L5

Unfortunately, I'm not running Linux. I'm using Windows XP Home edition.

Hrmm.. Ok.. What about GFI Languard Integrity Checker?

There's also Sentinel but that's a commercial product. Hrmm.. Uh.. FCheck (requires Perl)

Make sure HTML is disabled in your Mom's e-mail I know that you mentioned you
have antivirus on your computer but it's still a good idea to turn it off also do you have
or use any version of Macromedia's FlashPlayer on your Computer? alot of people use
older versions of flashplayer like 2 or 3 years that have lots of security issues.
