Zit, Zit, Pop, Snap, and ahhh....... the smell of burning resins!
Remember, You cannot just randomly select settings. You must keep them within the parameters of your monitor and video card! Before making any changes, make sure you have all the pertinent info about your monitor and video card handy.
For SuSE 9.3 Pro:
Control Center > Peripherals > Display > Screen Size, Click the drop down and make any appropriate changes within your parameters. > Click on the Refresh arrow and adjust it to the specified parameters of your equipment > Click "Apply" near the bottom right.
(disappointing since you're using linux in your name)
Connection refused, try again later.
