    Hi katja,

Why did you establish another account...you know you can't have more than one...right?

At first I thought it might just be the Spec messing around again...but the language patten resembles more yours than his.

    So...what's the scoop?

The internet only started out as a MIT research project. It's really naive to call it all american or even go as far as saying without america it wouldn't have existed. Europe doesn't need the US to have internet, we can do fine on our own. Also they're saying everyone should have a say in the naming system, nothing weird. Everyone is ripping this waay out of proportions. And you can expect the AO public to find a reason to bitch at the EU, UN, or any organisation of some sort that dares to say anything remotely negative about the US.

The fact that the UN has guns is proof that no one wants to be told what to do. These groups have a habit of giving aid to people who do not want or need it.

LOL,I spilled my coffee on the AOL....

It's funny though, isnt it?No one ever predicted,or could have,at that stage, that the 'Net was going to become something so big..as so many've said..this was a research project..so the US government wasnt really expecting this to turn out oh so well...I feel that the US should keep their hold on though, for the simple reason that it's working fine so far(maybe stretching a wee lil bit..but it isnt as bad as it could be).Wouldnt the transfer to the EU result in things going haywire, even if for a few days or so.(This means a lot to corporations?).I'd like to ask, though:
1.How much does the US government earn or gain to earn,by keeping control over the net?just money-wise..the information they can get is invaluable. And how much do they stand to lose, apart from the historical fact that they were the pioneers?
2.How would they try to make such a transfer, and how long do you all thing it might take?if ever,of course
    That's all for now I suppose...be back to post later..I'm sure I've forgotten something..lol
    Cheers

Aight, the suggestion is an internationlisation of the overview of the dns system. Alot of things rely on the internet and one of the things that isn't decentralised like all the rest of it is the administration of the dns system.
Nowhere is a mention of the dns stuff being run solely by the EU or even the UN for that mather... Also where the hell are them argument about why such a move is a bad thing and would go haywire/mess up dns's records/"slow down improvement". People against it are by definition non-progressive.

The UN peacekeeping forces (wich is like such a small part of what the UN is about) are burried so deep in rules of engagement they're barely allowed to aim their guns, let alone actually fire them. Also you suggesting like half of africa being supressed by relatively small armies of powermongers is a good thing? Are you saying people rather starve from ethnic "cleansing" (vocabulary) waterpoisoning, lack of education and AIDS, then to be helped? The UN isn't perfect yet it's the best we got on alot of diplomatic things and 2nd/3rd world help.

You all can relax now, it ain't going to happen US Disagrees

And I for one agree, if the UN as it is now, thinks it can take over control of something as complex as the Internet, they are joking, they the UN should think about cleaning up their act in all other areas, before it tries to get serious with technology.

The UN over the past 20yrs has been an abject failure (Rwanda, Somalia,Dubai,Etheopia,Bosnia,Croatia,Cyprus) I could go on, but I would run out of room

Oh I forgot to mention the "graft" that continues to take place at this establishment (Oil for Food program).
