I had dial up when i lived at home... then i finally told the parents i couldnt take it anymore so we got DSL now that im in an apartment I have cable internet... fast is good! Comcast Digital Cable gives us a combo package of cable tv/cable internet... kinda expensive but worth it.... btw their set up times suck! it took them 2 weeks to come out and hook us up!!!
Time Warner Cable (here in NY) provides Cable w/ Digital Phone w/ Satelite TV A tad bit expensive though, i think we pay about $100/month, the phone is free US long distance, free local minutes, and the best part, if there is a power outage i can't use it because i can't power the Cable modem up lol
btw, congrats val..don't know how you managed to go even 1wk with dialup, when I moved to DR and got DSL, then moved back here, started using dialup...i lasted a total of 1 day with 56k, then I ordered cable..
