Thank you for your opinion.
I tried installing Apache and hosting a webpage on this machine. Tried to access this from some other machine in the internet, its not working. Is there any rule to block this?

its been a while since i have played with linux but if memory serves me correct
in the http.conf text file somewhere there is a line that goes something along the lines of
#servername.localhost
remove # so it showes
servername.localhost
then - start httpd
to view your webserver just type the ipaddress and index.html page in your browser hopefully you haven't touched the .htaccess file yet and the other computer should be able to view the linux index.html file you should be able to get help from the man pages on how to secure your box from intruders by adjusting the read write properties.
if all that works get yourself a http://www.dyndns.com/ name makes it easier than guessing the ipaddress of hosts
