but my question is, why isn't it popular then?
I think that it's not popular, is that if ever computer had one of these, then there would be no need for Tech Support related jobs, no more having to take your computer into the store and pay top dollar to get it fixed, so i doubt that repair type stores are going to advertise it to ther customers, as they will loose when customers stop coming in, cause they were able to fix there own computer..
cheers

That's the whole point for AVs, so you can remove a virus on your own without the need of tech support. Regardless, what I meant about popular was popular amoung the IT community.

The ones I used, use a part of your harddrive like a software raid system..
When you reboot you keep the 'fresh' system.. Like that DeepFreeze system..
ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI.
When in Russia, pet a PETSCII.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back. My posts usually go nowhere.
The device works very well the few times I have used them. They are fantastic for places where a lot of public users are present (schools, libraries, cafe...etc)
They do use your hard drive to create the "Protected" area, I am guessing the chip somehow blocks user access to this area so the data can stay safe.
They do work a great deal like deepfreeze, just with no software to worry about. And about $680.00 cheaper if you have more than one computer.
Well i'm glad I could peak your interest in something.
If anyone gets the chance to test on 98/me/xp/nt/2000 would you please post results here. I have only used on XP and 98se so far.
Whats a \"START\" button?
