Hey Hey,
A lot needs to be done.... reselling off your own server isn't something you just jump into...
What services are you going to over.... Are you really going to give your users access to WHM... cuz that'd just be stupid..... but giving them acess to cpanel would make sense... in that case are you paying the full license fees because it's costly... and webmin/usermin make for a worthwhile alternative... must more cost effective (read: free)...
How much access will they have, will you provide dedicated IP Addresses or on a shared IP Address...
Since your apache already has php (if you have whm running)... (not sure where you read about php as a CGI would bypass apache because it was definately wrong)... then you can forget about php.. it's working... Now you have to look at things like Virtual hosts... does WHM configure everything accordingly??? Does it know where all the files go...
selling hosting requires a fairly indepth knowledge of the operating system in use.... You are responsible for and liable for the users data if you are selling them access to your server... that's a lot of burden to undertake...
Peace,
HT

hi
I aint gonna give the users access to WHM at all, just the control panel is sufficient.
Actually, I got this server as a reward from a firm on the basis of my services to them - i computerised their processes and flow of capital. So, I didnt had to worry about the expenses, hey hey.
The access will be dependent on the plan the users hav taken - only platinum and gold members will get dedicated IP addresses and for other, shared IP will be right to give!!
Thnx for clearing that bypass thing....i think that was blunder mistake. U know wat, I had been burning my brain cells for last 2 days workin on that problem. And in the end, i get to know the problem is completely wrong. That's terrible.
Yes the WHM, I am having is able to configure itself according to the requirement and is able to keep track of the complete data flow.
I know it'll be tough like a like tiny particle of virus under a mountain. But its a virus it wont be innocent enough and by the help given from members like u at AO, this "codenamevirus" will be very soon on the top of the peak. lol

Hey Hey,
There is a prerequesite of knowledge required in order to launch into something like this... You can't just decide you're going to do it..
From what I've seen you don't have that level of knowledge.... you're only going to run into headaches for yourself and problems for your clients....
You should know what needs to be done to configure your server to resell services, You should also know the basics for doing it... you should only be asking for help with a few little things..
Peace,
HT

I'm in agreement with HT. You have described a vision but you haven't translated that into strategic or operational objectives... don't skip that strategic part either, or like HT says, you'll fall flat on your face.

hi
hmm......seems to me, i underestimated the task...thnx for the warning.
But, eventhough thats a big job to handle....but still i wud like to learn the way, how to go about it. As it wud add to my professional skills.
All I ask is a tutorial or something, I dont care if it takes a month or two or more to expertise on this thing, coz I gotta learn this.
Thnx
