Volume Control
hi
I was working on my machine and by mistake I uninstalled the Volume Control from my machine. It happened when I went to Add/Remove windows components in the Add/Remove Programs panel. And I ended up in removing the control panel from my Windows XP.
Can someone tell how to bring it back!!
Thnx

You cannot remove the Volume Control using Add/Remove Windows Components..
You probably remove it from Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices..

Well...you could try removing the sound card driver-rebooting - and adding the sound driver back in.
Wouldnt that reinstall the volume control???

I didnt edit anything, Dice!!
When in Control Panel -> Sound n Audio devices, I check the option "Place Volume....at the taskbar".....it shows an error message "The Volume Control is not installed, to install it goto Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs".
But, nothing was listed in there......
thnx

Just so you know... A FYI if you will...
If you edit %WINDIR%\Inf\sysoc.inf with notepad... Remove all the "HIDE"s in there.. Leave the commas and everything else as is.. Save the file.. Then open up Add/Remove Windows Components.. Hey, presto.. Lots of stuff to add/remove that wasn't there before.. Including Multimedia options like Volume Control... Uncheck Volume Control.. Click Ok.. Windows will do it's thing.. Then re-open Add/Remove Windows Components.. Check Volume Control again.. Click OK... Windows will now re-install Volume Control..
