Im sorry, but I dont think you can 'honor' your son by using his death to promote your own agenda. ESPECIALLY when her son didn't even believe in her agenda. He was pro war. He died in a rescue attempt. I can see no more a heroic act than dieing trying to save someone else. Now she uses (yes I do mean she is 'using' her dead son) to rally hate for bush. I can't pretend to understand her pain, but what she is doing now isn't even motivated by her son's memory anymore.

We don't know if her son was pro war or not. As far as I can tell he was in the army before the liberation of Iraq started so he didn't join up to fight in the war. He was soldier doing his job and duty. By saying he was pro-war you are in a small way doing what you are critising her and the democrates for. That is using her dead sons memory. The saddest thing here is that she doesn't realise that she is being manipulated by the same group of people she is demonstrating against. At the end of the day weather they are republican or democrat or labour or tory or UMP or parti socialiste they are all politicians and neither side care about her or her son but only the advantage they can got out of the situation.

I don't know MURACU, didn't her son re-enlist? In any case, the support of most any soldier is implicit, considering they full-well enlist knowing what is within the job description. You agree with every (lawful/ethical) command you will ever be given the moment you place ink on paper. He selflessly sacrificed himself in the aid of his friends and country, without order or obligation. I couldn't agree with Dmorgan statement more.
Sheehan shames her son by using him as a tool to promote her own (likely contrary) agenda; while shaming herself for allowing herself to become and remain a tool of someone elses'.

Her husband, Casey's father, is a pro-war republican. He has said that his son was indeed pro-war. Cindy has never disputed that. To the contrary, she has said he was "manipulated into enlisting". Instead of supporting her son, she has been out telling people that he was 'tricked' into joining the army... twice.... once after the war began.

Sadly, thats true. Everyday I lose a little more faith in the people that run my government.

dmorgan id mostly agree with you and we absolutly do need a 'new' government, a different party, BUT the war in Iraq is about islamic imperialist expansion. we absolutly cannot allow "the new caliphite (sp) to form. we took afganistan then iraq, both boardering iran on opposite sides and now were putting the pressure on iran and of course their countering. as long as their's a good chance of war with iran we need a good troop build up on both of these boarders. we cannot afford to loose this war. the future of our children and the honor of those that have gone before us is at stake.
just take a look threw the news and a look at the map and tell me who would really want our troops out and why.
im not implying you disagree especially after your comments about Casey, i just think it really needs to be said more
Ahmadinejad said, "To those who doubt, to those who ask is it possible, or those who do not believe, I say accomplishment of a world without America and Israel is both possible and feasible." Should this guy really have nukes?? Better yet should his rule even continue?
but i bet if Ahmadinejad said a world without france and germany the un would be flying us helicopters and gun ships in there right now.

Lol, what an innappropriate, tastless, and pig-headed statement. Couldn't help but chuckle. Thank you for that one.
