running linux on an XP
WHAT UP FOLKS AM KINDA NEW HERE PLEASE I NEED INFORMATION ON HOW TO PARTITION MY HARDDISK SO IT CAN RUN BOTH THE USUAL XP AND A LINUX WITHOUT ME LOSING THE FILES ON MY WINDOWS HARD DISK,AM CURRENTLY USING A COMPAQ PRESARIO 2500,P4,40G,,,,,,,AND I WANT TO PARTITION IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT WILL BE 20/20,ALSO WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE LINUX SOFTWARE,I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU'D HELP ME

Two things to say:
1> Kindly do not use CAPITALS.
2> Have you tried vmware server, a free product that you can use to run Linux <INSIDE> XP? You can very easely test the various situations yourself and then ditch in right to Linux installation.
