Atom smasher 'destroys the world'
Ok so I thought this was an interesting read, hopefully some of you will as well.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...the-world.html
Opponents fear the machine, which will smash pieces of atoms together at high speed and generate temperatures of more than a trillion degrees centigrade, may create a mini-black hole that could tear the earth apart.
Scientists involved in the project have dismissed the fears as "absurd" and insist that extensive safety assessments on the 17 mile long particle accelerator have demonstrated that it is safe.

Hmmm, perhaps "demonstrated" should read "suggested?
Other "safe" things we should remember:
1. The Titanic
2. Thalidomide
3. DDT
4. Organo-phosphorus compounds
5. Cyclamates
6. Chernobyl
7. Asbestos
8. Lead paint
9. Chloramphenicol
10. Carbon tetrachloride
11. Trichoethelyne
12. Benzine
To name but a few?

The real purpose of this experiment is mind control. Turn off all
electronic devices today. Don't turn them back on until I give
the all clear.
I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.

The next sentence is false.
The previous sentence is true.

Well, thanks, fourdc... after having read that post at 8:46 AM, you've just ruined my day
One of the scientists working on the Large Hadron Collider was my professor of physics at college. He wasn't there much, and decided at the end of the term that anyone who had a class average of at least 80% did not have to take the final exam. He would also let us bring our textbook and one 3.5 x 5 index card with anything on it into our exams...
...and this was six years ago.

Nihil, where do you come up with Benzine?
The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.
