i'm having problems dialing up on my desktop, i can't tell if my modem is just gone, and i'll have to buy a new one, or if my network connections are messed up.

what happens is, i dial up and i get stuck at auth, and than i disconnect, so i'm guessing it's not my modem, but my connection settings, how do the connection settings go?
