Yes computers are tools but people use those tools like any profession, now most computers are networked. Lock picking is a known fact since they have been around, lets see I break into a goverment computer learn lots of stuff but do not change anything. I go into the alley cut pick the lock to the door, notice a trip alarm so I disable this also, go inside the building look through desk drawers everyones stuff, company records. On the way out you enable the alarm and lock the door walking away you learned much this day on how to get into that building. Next day a hidden security camera just picks up your shadow because of low light, but the owner knows you have been there though nothing was lost they spend thousands upgrading their security taking away from everyones anual bonus at Christmas. So your act was at your risk you did not get caught it cost you nothing, but to the place involved you did this two paid for what you see as their mistake? What value is their now to your knowledge, and what wisdom did you really offer and to whom?
I believe that one of the characteristics of the human race - possibly the one that is primarily responsible for its course of evolution - is that it has grown by creatively responding to failure.- Glen Seaborg
