As the "spirit of America" grows and grows, the general consensus among the citizenry is that we are "the greatest country in the world." Listen, I think americ is a great land, but with problems like we have (deficit, medicare, prescription drug costs, 5.5% unemployed.. etc) we have no right to be saying so. One fo the things that really annoys me about this country is the attitude that we are all that matters. It's been proven that, if you ask the average American citizen "what percentage of the world's population does America make up?" they'll usually answer with "20 to 25%".. well, the trusth is it's less than 5%. What does this say about our ego, as a whole? Though i dont think the article in quesiton in this thread has too much of an Anti-French sentiment, i can see how a person in France could see it in another way.. the same is true about much of the media that comes from this country, and of entertainment as well. This country loves to pat itself on the back, even at the expense of credibility and respect among it's peers. As it's been said, if we dont re-evaluate what we care about, and how we treat the Third AND First world, we are not going to last, and this country will be brought down, either from the outside or from within.
Hic ego barbarus, sum quillo non intelligor illis.
Because they do not understand me, I am a barbarian.
