3Coms PoE (Power over Ethernet)
Hey Hey
I was just checking out the news on google.. It says it's fairly new and no one has mentioned it from what i saw in searches.. .so anyways... PoE (Power Over Ethernet) it seems kinda cool
The one thing I really liked was that you can use one UPS for everything
Each 3Com device is plugged into a 3Com network jack connected to the switch, Dave Zwicher, 3Com's vice president of products and segment marketing said Wednesday. Each network jack can take up to four devices. Not only do devices no longer need their own power connection, but one UPS (uninterruptible power supply) can be used across the system, he said.
I'd have to start question the load being put on the actual power connections tho.. as more and more devices start using this it could become a rather large draw.
