modem doesn't dial out
ok, here's the problem. my dad has an old system, but he doesn't see the need to upgrade yet.
its a P-II 333 on some PC-Chips board
96MB RAM
cd-rom
2.3GB HD and a 4.5GB HD
Windows 2000
lucent 56k modem
the problem is, when ever i try to connect to the internet i get an error 680 message. before i installed windows 2000 i experienced the same problem in windows xp pro also. I tryed switching modems and different pci slots, that didn't work.
I checked to see if the modem was installed properly and even reinstalled drivers for it. I ran the modem diagnostics and everything seemed to be ok. i even tried different phone lines, still didn't work.
A friend of mine said that the modem was not being initialized properly, but i don't know...
can someone tell me what the problem is?
