Hello,
Creating your own "subnet" would help. In other words, why not obtain your own hardware based firewall, create a different subnet, and keep your own anti-virus up-to-date? This way you isolate your system from the rest of network. Make sure the firewall you purchase comes with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI).
