Another option that works for me is Ad Aware. The free version has to be manually run but it works very well removing the type of stuff you have indicated that you have.

Make sure you update the reference file before you run it (kinda like virus software).
If you want to spend a little money the PRO version prevents the bad stuff from ever getting to your computer.
