I know this may be old news to some, but Microsoft is planning on bringing out an OS that is made for clustering computers together. This is a good thing (sounds wierd I know). Think about it, if you don't have much competition, as Linux really doesn't in this department your product won't advance and mature as quickly as it could. I loathe some of Microsoft's practices but you do have to hand it to them, they do help provide an incentive for open source writers out there to advance technology to either keep up with or outpace Microsoft.
