Enlightenment looking good
some of you may know how I'm a bit of an arrogant bastard when it comes to OSs. Well, that is true But hey, I make you laugh right?
Anyway, this thread is mainly to show off what's coming out from Enlightenment, or "E" as some call it.
I mainly use a mix of Window Managers and things to keep it so I don't deopend on any one desktop, but my favprites are by far:
KDE
GNOME
Enlightenment
WindowMaker
IceWM
Xsplash
I use all of those, and E has always been kind of a favorite of mine when I didn't have KDE up. One thing that took me a bit to get used to was having to bar across the bottom to click on for applications. So I used Window Maker and got used to it, then I found E. It has something like a panel on the bottom, but sort of cooler. A little box showing what applications are open, and you can scroll it for what you have open.
And not to mention on the bottom left you can switch Virtual Desktops, which you only have to do if you don't feel like moving your mouse in the direction of the Desktop to the left or right, which really freaked me out the first time.
One thing I didn't like about E was the lack of file management. KDE has Konqueror, GNOME has...Whatever they've decided to make standard this week, heh. And Windows has....A Shell built into the OS also used to browse the internet....Windows could really learn from X, heh. But the fact is I was used to browsing the file system, and E didn't seem to have anything to contend to KDE with.
Until now.
I'm sure everyone has heard of E17, which is the next generation of E, and it has not been released. I'm waiting for it. Like a Virgin on the Wedding Night, I'm excited. I just saw a few screen shots of what E has up it's Eye-Candy sleave, and really, I think Mac OS X better have some pretty damned cool tricks if it thinks it's going to even hold a lighter to the ass of E.
Take this screen shot for example:

It looks great!
The new Windows has some competition here:

Amazing is an understatement:

I think all of you know E-Term is my favorite Terminal, and Blue is my favorite color:

And now for a File Manager for E that will shut me up about KDE and GNOME:

Amazing looking isn't it?

And some Themes in case you use it now, or want to change how it looks:

So, what do you guys think? I think it looks amazing, and the way they talk abotu what they are doing with it, I think I won't be using much else after the next release. I already like it, but when they start putting this all together, then I will be even more happier with it.
Also, I'm not sure what the name is, but I'll call it EDM. I haven't read the page fully yet, and it may very well be called EDM, but it looks like GDM except it actually looks good:
