That's a GREAT talk by Cory. I'm a big fan of his.

Somewhere, I have an MP3 of it...recorded on the spot and he had a link to it...cost me $0.50 IIRC.

Yes it could be apple's undoing...but I'm not so certain. There is, IMHO, just enough "cool" factor to the iPod thingy (not just the device...the culture, the image...) that if Apple stay's their course, I'd bet they come out of it looking pretty good.

For example...I *REALLY* wanted the MP3 of Roger Waters and Eric Clapton singing Wish You Were Here at Tsunami-Aid (or whatever it was called), but it's an Exclusive from Sony Connect.com. So I do without.

I do without for a few reasons. I think DRM is tyrranical (sp?), and I think the RIAA and the MPAA are the latest "old guard" fighting tooth and nail against changing technologies, value systems, and beliefs of morality. Please, AO folks who argue for it's own sake, don't see that morality statement as an invitation to discuss 'morality and file sharing'. I'm not making any definitive statement on right or wrong, I'm just saying that 'morals have changed' in the last 20 years.

But because of all these things, I excercise a bit of self-control, and I indulge myself otherwise to make up for it, because Sony only get's my money for quality hardware...which I can find less and less of from them. Or they get it for a DVD of a movie I would like to own. But that one song, it's not worth the cost to buy, plus the problem with installing their software and buying their devices to listen to it. Sorry Charlie.

Ok, I'm done. Let the fur fly!
