i just got a new 160 gig hd and when i partition it with both cfdisk and the partitioning tool on my windows cd, it always has about 8 mb of free space left over. i format the entire 160 gigs into one partition and when i look at it in the partition table it shows an extra 8 mb of free space that should be part of the main partition. i had heard that windows has a problem with large drives unless you have sp1, but my install cd has sp1 on it and the drive shows up in windows as 160,000,000,000 bytes when i look at it's properties. does anybody know why the partitioning tools wont format the whole drive?
