Undies~ has a point:

I trust it wont be the Dog that Me turned out to be.
That makes me wonder what the "REAL" hardware requirements are. The problem with ME was that it was a resouce hog, particularly RAM wise. Windows XP also suffered this way, as it does like a lot more resource than Win2000 (it seems to be about the same as WinME, which might explain why people I know who went from Win98x to XP tended to moan like hell, whilst those who had a stable WinME installation did not?).

Then we get the issue of people update installing a new OS onto old hardware

1. Check hardware compatibility (which includes resources!)
2. Check you have all the appropriate drivers.
3. Get rid of all those unsupported applications you have from the old OS, or upgrade them as well.

If you cannot satisfy all three:

1. Stay as you are
2. Buy new and work on a migration strategy.
