Hey kryptonic, I know the feeling. It's like going into the supermarket and buying a jar of coffee for $9 then next week they are selling two jars for $9 
Sometimes you see stuff very cheap; like $450. Now, you can buy one, but they try to sell you a "better model" for $600. That is really what they want to sell to you, the cheap one is just "bait" to attract your attention.
I believe this is called "overselling" and is actually illegal in this country.
You could get the dual core for $450, but the deal has now expired:
