Because I still like some of you, I will let you in on a horrible fact that many poor people are experiencing right now.

MS released this patch with a DLL that shouldn't have been included. The result? If you have an XP SP2 box with IE 6SP1 you may get a crash condition when you go from a HTTP to HTTPS site. Google Gmail is a sure way to test this problem.

Code:
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
urlmon.dll, version 6.0.2900.3231, fault address 0x0003b5ce.
This is the issue. Notice the urlmon.dll reference.

Fortunately, I found a fix. Merge this reg value and reboot. Presto. Fixed.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_PROTECT_DECOMPRESSION_FILTER_FROM_ABORT_KB942367]"*"=dword:00000001

FU Microsoft!
