Legally
Yes, you said it right, you said legally, but then, who the hell cares about the consumer rights, windows has been pushed on us easely because there were no alternatives, now there are.
Use them, build something that anybody that uses windows can use, and legally or ilegaly because M$ will surely atack saying something is not legal, open source will win the " war ".
There must be a way to make a KISS ( keep it simple stupid )distro of linux, something anyone can use as easely as windows, and much safer stable and updatable online. Do it, and we will win.
Open source came later and did not start it, but it can surely end it if they just put the distros out with 10% the price of windows as well as free for download.

Can't you people SEE??? Don't you people understand????
Don't you people SEEEEEE??? OR AT LEAST UNDERSTAND THE REAL MEANING BEHIND WINDOWS ME???
Just read Microsoft's Warranty/support policy and you'll understand Microsoft's Evilness! The TRUE meaning of Windows ME is for them to have meet their warranty/support policy to finally discountioued Windows 95!!!!!!!
That's the reason why they had the Windows XP project start as soon as ME is realeased (the Windows XP PR1 was released very soon after Windows ME was).
Can't you people feel the evilness of Microsoft????????

From my experience with it, I think ME is one of the worst OSes ever released by Microsoft...

Evilness you say.... maybe I shouldn't apply for the internship at Microsoft then... hmmmm...... *ponders*
I think lawrence171 may have something...
I can't read the Microsoft Warranty/Support policy... but it does sound like a feasible idea....
It could explain why ME bites so much... probably wasnt meant to be a proper operating system...

evil... i think i could fit in..
yes.... YES Indeed!
watching brand new computers crawl.. oh ya.. Running NT installations the evil streak that runs through me.... should i make it so the user cannot walk away from the computer if he/she wants it to install in a timely manner... user interaction throughout the installation sounds like a genius idea to me..
Evil you Say?

During beta testing I knew WindowsMe, affectionately called Milly by some cuz it's short for Milennium which was winMe's code name, was the worst piese of sh*t MS ever tried to create. They figured they could get away with it cuz many computer freaks are followers .... something new comes out and they'll eat it up and buy it no matter what.
Unfortunately, because of Milly and its mild success, MS got the brilliant idea that they could take and adopt it to the NT kernel, hence the birth of WindowsXP.
I'm not sure what their eXPectations were, but all they managed to create is another OS that talks down to its users.
The icons are ugly (Apple/BeOS looking), the buttons and bars are fat and ugly, they coded in half a firewall that blocks incoming only (pretty sneaky ... allows outgoing so the OS and apps with spyware can still call home at will), a burning utility that works when it wants to, a second generation rollback repair utility that still has a lot of bugs, etc. etc. etc. Theme weenies are extatic cuz they can change the looks of everything, and eat up all their system resources in the process. Beautiful... an OS on the NT kernel with memory leaks ... shame on you MS !!!
You who choose to praise XP will whine about simply changing to the "Classic Windows" theme. I who appreciate win2k whine about having to change anything after install. An OS should be simple and stable. I shouldn't have to take hours of precious time and make the GUI look the way I want it to. The DEFAULT GUI should be simple and appealing... period.
You have extra apps and utils to offer, then put them on a separate CD for the user to install at his leasure IF HE WANTS TO. Coding this crap into the OS And making it non-removable destablizes the OS and creates conflicts with other apps or utils installed to take their place. ***** that.
In comparison, win98se and win2k are sleak and stable. Why anyone would waste their hard earned money on bloated, bug riddled, half-assed products like Milly or XP is beyond me.
I still think Gates is a moron for discontinuing the development of Neptune (a smaller consumer build of win2k) so he could finish Milly faster..... but thats an entirely different thread.
Have a Nice Day
