I have the same problem sometimes... After the internet reconnects if my ISP "kill" me after 2 hours, the connection makes it but nothing can "find" the internet... MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer... nothing... They just cannot connect.

There are certainly no viruses or trojans on my computer (NAV2002 and the intelligence to not run suspect stuff make sure of that!)

The only solution I have discovered so far is to restart the computer and connect again - if anyone has a less interruptive solution I'd love to hear it cos this is driving me MAD!!

My laptop does that to me too. It logs on and I can be online for about 10-20 minutes than it will lose the connection. The phsyical connection to the ISP is open but I can't access the internet. I have to restart the laptop to get it back. I wonder if it is my modem? My 2000 box works just fine though it can stay on for hours with no problem.

    Post ReFormat

The same thing used to happen to me. I'm running a Win2k Pro OS if you guys are interested. And after about 3-4 hours of internet time my ISP would kick me off. Just like that, and I would have to reboot my machine in order to get anything back up. So I decided to burn all the information I had onto CD's and reformatted my HDD. It seemed to have workded because now I'm online just about 24/7.
