this is scorpion talking on behalf of joseph..at the service centre i was told that carriage mechanism was faulty and the reason why the drive read a few cd's and rejected a few others was that there is something wrong with the read head.and that it had to be replaced.i was able to boot from a linux and windows98 cd..but i could not boot from my windowsNT cd which is in perfect shape..this problem appeared all of sudden..its a new one and since it was a new one i used to be careful in handling it.i hope i have elaborated my problem..anyway i have given it to the service center and i am going to collect it..i will be asking them about all that went wrong and what were replaced..
