flash is pretty cool to learn, but i am not a fan of using flash just for the sake of it. it's too time consuming and it also comes with some security issues. but if this for educational purposes, go for it. experience is the best teacher.

    Hello Solid_Morph!

Good day to you! I checked your web page. Nothing is wrong with it. However, upon-loading, the background image of yours, did not appear immediately. It was the last to load. Your background image was a bitmap file that was too heavy in size. It was about 1.24 mb, which was not an advisable size for webpages.

I optimized your image by using Adobe Photoshop. I changed it into a high-resolution jpg image. From 1.24 mb, it was reduced to 25.5 kb. Bitmaps are much more heavier as compaired to gifs and jpgs. I can further reduce the size if you want.

    Have Fun!!!

    A blessed day to all!!!

if ya look at the source of my page you will notice that the background is actually a gif file...the size of which is 200k...if ya tried to save the background...it will save it to a .bmp extension...um...maybe the reason it loads last is because i have four tables(i think) that are all loading the same background individually...i guess i coud change that...i was going to go with frames...but i really don't like that...tables kinda suck to...i made the background with photoshop...simple yet beautiful(my opinion)...i now have it so that when ya hover over a link...it shrinks and changes color...so if ya are using Lynx...tough luck chuck...like i said before...i'm coding exclusively by hand...no editors...btw...if anyone is using netscape...what does it look like compared with explorer...im not using netscape at the moment...haven't checked how it works under netscape...
    Im not crazy...yet

    Hello Solid!

I checked your source code. It was gif indeed. Moreover, about the tables in relation to your background image and its loading. I suggest that you slice your image according to the size of each table. So that when your page loads the background image loads on each area of the page.

    Have Fun!!!

200k...yikes...i've run whole sites on less than that...

my handy-dandy coldfusion studio document analyzer tells me that a document with a 200k pic is gonna take 200.4 seconds to dl on a 56k line...

rule of thumb for me is no page should load slower than 30 secs at the VERY longest...studies show that most people get tired of waiting after 10-15 secs.

    here's your background...reduced to 28k
(which brings it's loading time to 5.4 secs on a 56k...)
