Is there a way to Dial Up AOL without AOL?

Ok no problem I will keep people informed if I find anything. So far I'm still reading about there protocol so it will take some time.

As far as getting into your local AOL servers, I'm clueless, but I do know that the AOL servers ping their users regularly(especially dial-up)...and if they ping an IP that isn't registered(one that hasn't authenticated)...well, you know what happens...BOOT! Your only recourse would be to steal an account...which is illegal. Sorry, but I feel your pain, as I am also an AOHell tool.(but not for much longer...damned landlord) And now that AOL has aquired ICQ(Mirabilis) and (that other company that I can't remember at the moment)...imagine the logfiles that they keep...dangerous ground, as they say...

AOL learned there lesson form AOHell I would doubt that a similar loop hole still exist.

You know how to use a dial up connection don't you? Get the phone number(s) that are used to connect to AOL and write them down. Set up a dial up connection using your user name and password from AOL with that phone number. It's simple.

I have been in search of the same kind of code to dial without their dumb software. I have had no luck though. but for jehnx , you can use a program called rasspy, unfortunately this doesn't work for aol . You see when the msn client dials out, it changes the username and password to numbers. Rasspy catches these numbers so you can use dial up networking. Basicially from the command prompt you type rasspy.exe cmd = msn.exe (or whatever your msn clients name is). When msn dials out it captures the data.

Remote_: It's not that simple dude. Try it yourself, it won't work. I've been pondering with this crap for like a year now, and I have yet to get anything done.

I'm not sure if it works now but back in the day it werked.. like when AOL 3.0 was new. I haven't tried it recently cause I don't use AOL. There's another method of geting around it.. Get a new ISP.

Over the last few months I've heard from a few friends that AOL is raising online security, and there is active monitering on connections to their servers. But tapping AOL connections has become nearly immpossible. For example if you somehow gained access, if wouldnt last for long (eg. 1 hour) before they cracked down on you and severed the link.
