A very devout man was walking along the beach one day, when he said to God,
"God? I've been a very devout believer for my whole life. Will you grant me one wish?"
And God said to him,
"Yes, this is true, you have been one of my greatest believers. What would you like?"
The man thinks about this and replies,
"Well, God, I've always wanted to visit Cuba, but I'm horribly afraid of flying. So, what I would like, is for You to build me a bridge to Cuba, so I can go on vacation there."
God replies:
"That's a fairly selfish wish. Try to think of something that will glorify both you and me, like the wish for wisdom."
The man thinks even longer this time, and finally replies:
"Well, God, it's like this. I've been married for over fifty years, and I still don't understand women. I want to understand what they want. I want to understand what they think, and why they think it. I want to understand everything there is to know about women."
There is dead silence for the next hour, during which the man waits politely for God's reply. Finally, he hears:
"So, do you want two lanes or four on that bridge?"
