Hot_Ice and I came up with this idea almost at the same time....

Don't blame me I voted for the Gold Dot.

Funny, I was just musing about this...
I think the olympic things are too complex, but you know what I'd like to see?

A SINGLE dot or bar. Maybe gold if a dot is chosen, green or gold if a bar is chosen.
    And the javascript popup?

"USER has transcended the need to count antipoints."

I think that it's pretty silly, and maybe a bit childish, to keep counting the antipoints after a certain level.

I'd be all up for it, but I only have my one, lonely dot

I guess nobody likes me.... *joke*

Oh well, it does sound like a great idea, just wonder how much work it would take?

Hey, it seems to be implemented now! Though it's not gold but a shiny green dot. But now many people, like Terr & Dr Toker, have 5 normal green dots + shiny green dots: shouldn't those 5 be replaced by one shiny? I know what you're up to here, but I think it should be made that way. Or at least the shiny greenies should be before the normal greenies. We do have 10:s before 1:s and 100:s before 10:s in our decimal 10-based number system, don't we? The point is like that now the 1:s are like before the 10:s...

I like Terr's idea. If someone reaches say 2000 AP's, just put the "no more need" popup. Maybe even put a big purple bar there or something, so people know that they are no longer able to assign antipoints. You could possible still agree/disagree with the post, but the antipoints wouldn't be counted.

You could also implement this so that people could "opt out" of the antipoint system. If you have a big black bar, that means that the user doesn't wish to receive antipoints. Again, you could still rate the post, but the antipoints wouldn't count.

The max the dots will go is 11 green dots. Count myself, Korpdeath, AcidSpectrum, RA, and JP himself. We all have 11 dots. I have noticed that the last six are brighter for some reason.
Gold dots would be a good idea though.
We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do just about anything with almost nothing.
