Just a .02 here, even Windows was a hack at the start or was it A before Gates visted Apple?..geez KorpDeath I agree. Thing was in the past the major things in computing were not made for profit but to solve a problem. As I see it Window apps port to just Windows and at best Mac, where is the problem solved in this when M$ has 90% market share? Believe me I have better things to do then just keep up with the license tracking of M$ stuff, let alone now the DMCA crap. I bulk at M$ new releases and patches, as do the owners of whom I work for. Business is looking for alts for sure until M$ ports it's apps as well as thousands of vendors and 3rd party apps to lindows we all have to have a bottom line our paychecks and a business that pays for itself and it's employees, and turns a profit (nothing wrong in that) if it solves a problem. Forget the suits and the SBA..ask how SBA is solving these issues and then fire off an email to the Judge in the antitrust case..the world cannot bow to M$..they need to port their apps to the OS of my choice not by default. LOL key word DEFAULT = M$. Lindows has a foot hold as to even the use of Windows after all I am gonna open My Windows is a nice day here..nighters

A confluence of two OS like
M$ windows with its popularity.

A hybred of a *nix with MS_Windows. Form and Functionality seems like th goal with a secure system and the configurability of nix. Seems that if this os approached the OS in a unix fasion of a root that is the admin and then users with the portability of the windows platform they might have a winner, if they arenet sued out of the market. but then again no one mentioned if its Open Source based either. A house devided cant stand. If past performance of win-linux is any indication, your better off with a duel boot and split tasks as needed between the Os's.

I haven't used it yet but i intend to mess withit once i get a copy www.lindows.com has also been in trouble with a few linux groups for not releasing the source code with the beta version which is required by the GNU Patent thingy ma bob.
Lindows.com is an awful website some of the links dont work effectivly and it looks cheesy. Trying to find info on lindows is ni on impossible if anyone out there has actually used it PM me i wanna know.

I Don't think it is a bad idea however, I'm not sure how financially successful. M$ will see to it that it is not. Hopefully their work will continue to open the door to common application compatability no matter what OS one chooses to use.
Just a quick thought.

I think the idea has potential, but it won't go far. M$ wouldn'twant to relinquish sole command of its product. That would be necessary to avoid all the lawsuits.
