Mcaffe Anti-virus, I know that for fact, and some e-mail services scan the mail for virus.

They are running??? I thought they were your PC's...

My distrust aside... Running AV software is all well and good.. but is it up to date? I'm assuming this is a home user, and a lot of them forget that updating is required, so while they have their trusty AV software installed, its only looking for virus's from before 2000..

How can you find this out? well, you said you already know that they are running the AV suite... I'm sure finding out what virus defs they have going wouldn't be too hard...

On a large scale, with a company email system, one way to find out is to send them a few new email virus's... A lot of the corporate AV's which can scan email also notify a sender as well as the recipient when their email gets quarantined....

I really wonder this thread, this must be the first "how do I hack" one that people have answered without any flames!! Anyway, I think I'll also do some searches about some of those things people mentioned.

use nmap to find open ports, and then use nessus to scan for vulnerabilities

lol sounds fishy to me... anyway I guess "they" don't really mind having you scan them...
If you bugged me as much as you are bugging "they" I would have contacted your ISP long ago so I guess "they" are either dumbasses or they don't mind you trying to get in
Remember firewalls usually log attack attempts and that if "they" stop being dumbasses (by some miracle), "they" can get you in trouble if you didn't get their consent

There are firewalls that block out pings and stuff. They exploit the system and find a vulnerability and figure a way to get past it.

Hmm, maybe they should learn spelling in "chicagoland"... You meant that the machines in your network are running McAfee's and you know their IP's and names.

Hey, no offence man, cool down. Basically you asked "how to hack" and there is (or now used to be?) tendency to flame those posts here in AntiOnline. The fact that there now were no flames really surprised me. I can see you're not trying to hack anyone but some people do not read the full post or do not understand it and then flame the one who posted. Peace.
