mysql server
how can i set-up a mysql server on a winme machine (don't laugh). I can't figure this **** out, the readme file is **** on a stick.

Get one of the premade windows binary packages from Mysql.com. Unzip the archive (assuming you have a zip extractor), run the installer and after that it should work.
You may want to get MySQLFront which is a GUI front end for MySQL from here
http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/
This is better than MySQL's own GUI.
Note that the MySQL team don't recommend using win9x or WinME for production use (but I'm guessing you don't want to use it for a production system anyway)

Click on that. That's where you should pick a mirror, user http. When I downloaded mySQL from there. It came with an installer. Once you get it installed. Make sure to click on mysqld.exe. I hope it helps.
