I know this is late in coming but why did you just reinstall XP on-top-of the exsisting installation of XP doing a clean install or what MS will call an "in-place upgrade" This would allow you to change the administrative password. Although you would have had to reinstall all the applications you would still have all the data... Sorry it was late in coming... Although Hit_Ice's suggestion whould have worked also. You might have been confused on the drive label and the volumne label The Drive letter get assigned a a pretty low level in when the system starts and they are designated by jumper on the drives themselves or automatically via cable select (position on the IDE cable) XP xan read FAT32 so can W2K so the partition type would not have been an issue.
