*nix and Windows co-exist (under windows terms)

Hey all,

Haven't read much into it, but figured this *might* be useful for those new to Linux and Unix and want to slowly convert over from Windows. This apparent "Service" allows to run Unix and Windows together. It has the two hierchy working together in a format called Interix.

Like I said, haven't read up on it much (yet) but figured to post the link of the product.
It's a useful product for those who want to venture/run *nix apps without leaving the "safety blanket" of Windows*

I imagine Bill Gates inserts a T between the s and the f when he thinks of it, and it is a statement meant for all unix fans.

Another strategy for running Linux and Windows in a "side-by-side" manner would be to use VMWare http://www.vmware.com to run a Windows Virtual Machine on a Linux workstation. I love this configuration, because you can actually network your workstation and the Windows Virtual Machine just like you would a real network with multple nodes. It's a nice, neat way to play with cross-platform services like Samba.

I've used VMware to run a unix demo of software on a windows 2000 laptop. Worked great. Needed 512 megs of ram though.
