Try McAfee - http://www.mcafee.com/support/online...qs.asp?faq=453
How do I send a suspected virus to McAfee.com?
Attaching the File to an Email and Sending it to the Virus Research Team
1. Open your email software.
2. Create a new message.
3. In the message, include the following:
-Your name, phone number, address, and email address
-Operating system
-Antivirus program
-Anti virus engine version (e.g. 4.1.20)
-DAT file version (e.g. 4.0.4140)
-Browser version
-Nature of problem
4. Attach the zipped file. It will be located on your desktop.
5. Send the email to [email protected].
6. A member of the Virus Research Team will research the file and respond with further instruction or information.

Well the information on this worm can be located on McAfee's Site Here: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99547.htm , and it seems that it was updated in the DAT Files on 7/3/2002.
I am assuming if it was saved as a text file, the charecteristics of the file may have been altered, and that is why McAfee did not pick up the file. If you changed the file extention back to exe or whatever it was originally supposed to be. I am assuming it would then be picked up by McAfee. Just assuming. Well glad I could help you figure out what the files was....
btw... you may want to contact a mod, and see if they would move this thread into the AV Discussion forum. Not that it has officially deals with a virus discussion..
