My name is Al, and I'm an AntiOnlineoholic. It started out innocently, just a viewing every couple of days. As time passed by, it grew to an obsession, then an addiction. My family has tried everything...counselling, valium, even using heroin as a substitute, all to no avail. I was recently hospitalized when my USB hub slipped into the tub while I was in AO blackout. Yes...I have a problem, and dammit, I need help!!!

I also have to confess!!! I’m addicted.... Since a very good friend has introduced me to AO I try to get on whenever I can. This site is informative, educational, interactive, humerous and to put it quit frankly one of the best sites I have ever visited. Take for instance if you had to pay for all the info and help you seek here, you would be bankrupt within no time. I just think it is ok if people spend a lot of time on a site like this because it is worthwhile, given that it does not interfere with their work too much.. Businesses should distinguish and evaluate the time being spent on worthwhile sites and sites which is providing nothing.

    Good post sumdumguy.

I personally think that:"( THIS SITE DESERVES AN AWARD )".

hehe......I have lost count of how long I spend in front of the computer screen online. I work an 8 hr day online....I am technical support for vpn's....After that, I go home and stay up till midnight at the earliest and often till 2-3 am online.....Im not addicted yet..... I spend the majority of my time here and at other security sites.....My appetite for learning just grows....I can never learn enough
M$ support is like shooting yourself in the left foot and then putting a band-aid on the right one.

My name is Kiss and I have a problem, I confess all, I'm a computer addict. I'm spending more and more time behind my screen, when I go on holidays I think only to go back and to launch my pc.
In fact, when I'm not on my pc, I need to know it is opened. It's desastrous for my social life.

    Please, help me to disconnect!!
Life is boring. Play NetHack... --more--

Well, as far as the work thing and websurfing instead of working.. lol.. those of you that know me know that I do maybe a total of 20mins, maybe 30 mins of "actual" work. The rest of the time I'm either in the IRC or surfing the net trying to learn something.

I wouldn't really say that I'm addicted to the internet, instead I would say I'm addicted to learning. I have so many questions and so little time in life to answer them. The internet is my encyclopedia. I have an uncontrollable urge to learn all that I can in my life, and to furthur my career with that knowledge. (prolly happened because my dad is a teacher, my mom is a teacher, my step-mom is a teacher, my grandmother was a teacher, my aunt is a teacher, and my cousin is a teacher, hell... even my ex-girlfriend is now a teacher... )

So I say, for me personally, its a habit I intend to keep in my eternal quest for knowledge, and I'm proud of it!

In the words of David Duncan...
"Mr. Chairman, I would like to answer the committee's questions but on the advice of my counsel I respectfully decline to answer the question based on the protection afforded to me under the Constitution of the United States."

Or in the words of Ari Fleisher "I cannot confirm nor deny these accusations at this point in time."
