    I tend to agree with rcgreen and darkes,also try and run a good registry cleaner.Did your friend do a clean install?.If not I would suggest that he does.Also be sure to have all the latest updates and patches installed.

    Well, I had this same problem with my computer. I needed to update my BIOS and everything was fine. Go to the board venders page and look for any updates to the bios.

    Also goto www.moosoft.com and download the cleaner, it could also be a trojan hiding in there somewhere.

    Check the task scheduler... heh sometimes I set my friends compters to go off and on on them.. hehe

    Overheating could also be an issue. Many boards today have measures to protect a board from overheating by shutting it down for you, even with the it is now safe to blah blah message.



    Well, I would check for a bios update first, thats what mine was (an HP comp).
