my DVD in my "LINUX' working.....
I've been having problem with my DVD on my laptop..that DVD works only in my XP..but not working in my LINUX..(my laptop have XP and RH LINUX as OSes).
When I installed RH LINUX..I've got XINE already in it by default, I've tried to uninstall and reinstall..and even I've tried to install latest version XINE ..still not working.
I just realised the most common is LINUX not recognising some IDE CD/DVD-rom drive. And I fixed that by adding hdc=cdrom/dvdrom to the LILO config. And LINUX will recognised that the second IDE device is really CD/DVD-rom.
So this is what I've done:
#edit LILO.config
image=/vmlinuz
label=linux
root=/dev/hda2
vga=ask
append= "hdc=cdrom/dvdrom"
mem=160M.
That's it...somehow it's works for my laptop(toshiba satellite 1800 series 1100).
I hope this information helps....to anyone who have some problem.
cheerss
bizzare..how come in my titles it says" my DVD in my "LINUX"working"?? is it BUGSS???.
my titles should say "my DVD in my LINUX working"......

yupe..doctorfoobar I've tried that OGLE in my LINUX but still not working..(before I made that little bit changed of that configuration )...apparently because I've got software built in for XP in my laptop( what cheakky..marketing..). After I've done that configuration my DVD player working so well..I can use XINE or OGLE. But thanks for that site..might be someone else need it..

DVD
Why did you add append="hdc=cdrom/dvdrom" ??
I never seen or heard of it before..
and even google doesn't know of it..
try a dmesg last | less to view your startup log..
does it recognise your DVD player ??
can you read normal CDs or DVD-ROMs with it??
Did you install a decss library to decrypt commercial DVDs ??
ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI.
