Hmm.... it seems my antipoint center matches my eyes.....(Red)

If you will notice my original post, it was answering a question.

The Question was, "why do people insist on "saving" other peoples souls when they are actually worshiping the same thing, but only in their own way

I told him EXACTLY why the Christians do that. I even made a lil summary of it all. Excuse me for having an understanding of my faith. To me, all of creation screams of his existence.

PS> to the individual who negged me saying... what about the koran? If you acctually read the post, you will see where i asked our Islamic, and jewish members to speak up.

    Question What about Goddesses?

I started reading this thread, dreading the AP war that I knew was going to follow.

I found myself reading DrToker's post and hovering over the assign antipoints button, fingers itching to say something nasty. But I stopped. The thought came to me, asking, "What right do I have to say that?" Who died and made me God, so to speak. It's his opinion. I don't agree with it, but that still doesn't give me the right to tell him he's wrong.

Those of you that hang out in IRC might already have heard me talk about my faith. For those than haven't, here's a synopsis.

My faith teaches a respect for all life, regardless of whether it is icky, or I don't personally like it, or whether I agree with it. It teaches a respect for all paths, for who are we to judge? I do not personally believe DrToker's statement that Jesus is the only path to God, but I can't prove him wrong. I've been told by members of his faith that I'm a evil whore that is going to burn in hell. Maybe they're right, but do they have the right to tell me that?

My faith teaches the existance of the Is. In order to understand the Is down through the ages, man has assigned it characteristics to make it understandable to our tiny little brains. This is where we get the early "God of Fire", and "God of Rain". As we have evolved, so have our Gods. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, they all worshipped pantheons of Gods. Zeus, Demeter etc. My personal believe is that they came up with the different Gods and Goddesses because there are so many different things in our world. If we are created in Their image, then there certainly must be more than one of Them, right?

Then along came early Christianity. Place yourself for a moment in their society. Male-centered and controlled. Women were worth less than the livestock and wheat. To create a single male God makes sense to them.

All of these paths are merely our way of trying to explain the Is. No one is better than the other.

My faith is a polytheistic, nature-based revival of the pagan faiths of old. Some call us Wiccans, some neo-pagans, and others call us witches. (And no, before you ask, I can't make your girlfriend fall in love with you and I don't fly around on a broom, just a 757.)

Anyway, I think I've babbled enough. That's my theory on Divinity.

Fortunatley it was not Dr Toker's statement. It was Jesus Christ's statement. I was just telling you what he said.

These members of the faith were obviously mislead by some denomination, or by themselves.
Because Jesus said that we should not judge others. That job is for the Father.

Do they have the right? No, but they do have an obligation to spread the gosple of Jesus.

Maybe thats what they were trying to do.... however I know Jesus didnt tell the harlot that she was a whore, He told the people around her getting ready to stone her, " Let he who is perfect cast the first stone." They all left her alone.

Like I was saying, if the christian church ACCTUALLY FOLLOWED the teachings of Jesus, we would be alot better off.

Hmmmm...Whether the Jesus of theology actually said any of that stuff is left to be seen.

It's ****ing simple. There has never been a better way of controlling the masses then through religon and christianity. "You either behave and be a good little boy or you'll fry in hell for eternity. Oh, and you better donate a fair share of your wage too....And don't forget your children, we LOVE children......."

I think it was best said by Seneca The Younger (circa 4 B.C.E - 65 C.E)

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as
false, and by rulers as useful.

Dr Toker ( Your handle implies the use of drugs...not very christian) you can live how ever you want. The part that really pisses me off is "we have a duty to spread the gospel of Jesus.." I don't knock on your door forcing my way of life onto you....don't do it to me.

I know I said I wouldn't touch this one. And I'll admit, it's because I didn't want to get negged. But I did anyway for posting without giving an opinion. Oh, I really wish you hadn't asked for my opinion, because I have a policy about opinions and ass-kickings, and that is if you ask for it, then I have to give it to you...

As I have stated in COUNTLESS other similar posts (another reason I didn't say anything here at first) I am an athiest. For those of you not up on your prefixes, It means I don't believe in God. This thread illustrates one of the MANY reasons why. The varying views on god not only convince me there is nothing in which to believe, but also condemn one another to an eternity of hell.
1st commandment: Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
Let me ask this question: "How can everyone be right about God when our different beliefs about God conflict with one another and are at times, mutually exclusive?" ~preacherman481
for once, preacherman, you and i are on the same page. Ask ten different people about God you get ten different answers. The bible says in many places and in many ways both that you can't know God, and that preaching falsley about him is a sin. What kind of God condemns 99.9 percent of his followers to eternal damnation? OK OK OK, i know most of you belive that isn't true, but some do, and what makes you any more right than them? what makes your opinion more valid than theirs? they say you're going to hell, you say they're going to hell, who cares? and besides... why is there a bible?
"I read about an Eskimo hunter who asked the local missionary priest, 'If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?' 'No,' said the priest, 'not if you did not know.' 'Then why,' asked the Eskimo earnestly, 'did you tell me?' "Annie Dillard, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, 1974
and why is accurate translation of it so crucial to how we spend eternity?
"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes." - Gene Roddenberry
thanks again CK for the quotes, here's one more for you.
Religion has convinced millions of people that there's an invisible man, who lives up in the sky, and he has these little rules for you to follow, and if you do you go to heaven when you die, and live in happiness for eternity... but if you don't follow them, the you are sentanced to an eternity of hell, with fire, and burning, and bile, and piss, and suffer forever and ever.... .but he loves you.... he loves you and he NEEDS MONEY!!!!! ~George Carlin

Well, unfortunatley I dont make the rules, I really dont follow them either, but I will stand up for what know to be true in my heart. The Diciples were martyred for what they belived, im sure I can stand a few negs.

As far as the 'drug use' thing goes.... Yeah, I smoke pot. God will judge me accordingly. Its not your place to point out my sins. But it really makes you sound Christian. LOl

Perhaps I should become a priest? I couldn't do any worse.....and I could do with the money!

And as for your smoking pot I think thats the one decent thing about you. It takes you away from that "brain washed Christian" (let me guess, Daddy's an evangilist) category and gives you a little normality..

Anyway, I'm through arguing with you Christians. No, I'm not admitting defeat. It's just pointless. It's like bashing your head against a wall. All you get is a headache and a hell of a lot of hypocrisy....such as a drug smoking Christian...Praise the Lord!

    Lightbulb God...my opinion matters.

God created us for probably a few reasons.
    • He was bored.
    • He wanted somebody to love Him
    • Nobody around to respect/look up to Him, and he is God afterall...*ponders*

Hrm... maybe God was just bored, and in a few years he'll wipe the slate and start over again with a smarter/more versitile/less abnoxious and arrogant species. Sorry to think, but we may simply be the Beta Version of the human race, followed by Version1.0 and completed with the Final Release V2.0 - which would be quite an upgrade, noticing how our world today: sucks.

Maybe God infact isn't "all-powerful" at all! What if he's just some runt God who accidentially ran across some Sprite-Cola bottle caps, turned them, and happened to win the 2nd or 3rd best thing: us. He seems the type of person who's always looking out for His best intrest and nobody elses sometimes,...quite arrogant too if you read the bible or koran (yes, we have both at our house).
"Worship me" he says, "and nobody else! - or live forever in an endless pit of agony and pain"... *sigh*...greedy attention deficit son of a bitch.

What if God has a God or Gods of His own? What if there's a whole race of Beta Version God's out there who have no idea what the **** their doing with us? We just happen to be peons prancing around like little nuts in a jar hoping to God that there is even a God in the first place that actually cares for/about us. And God's God is pissed of at God for making such a lousy universe that our God is even being condemned to a Higher God's hell - making us, regardless of our religion, ****ed up the ass with a few umbrellas and a monkey (unless this Higher God is also looking out for us...lets pray on it, shall we?).

What if God was just exhausted, frustrated, and utterly pissed with everything, and because of a few physics laws he somehow managed to put together, he's unable to commit suicide. He created us out of sheer entertainment,...we're doing such a lousy job at it; it could be why He's complety derived us from His presence. You hear all these stories about people actually communicating, talking, conversing, seeing, witnessing, everything but smelling his bad odor, back in the day. Back when things were still fun and new for Him. But not anymore... I imagine after Him witnessing a few minor disagreements turn into full fledged war were a massive amount of His creation are literally slautered away...well...it's only fun the first few times (try watching "Saving Private Ryan a few dozen times a day, while taking notes and character biographies, and you'll see what I mean).

*Sigh*...or maybe there simply isn't anything at all. It'd be the simplest, fastest, and most secure way of dealing with life. "There isn't anything after this, so lets make the best of it. Lets stop our goddamn useless quarrels and get on with life, for ****'s sake" should be our attitude towards things - but it's not...why you ask? because of that "invisible man, who lives up in the sky, and he has these little rules for you to follow, and if you - you go to heaven when you die, and live in happiness for eternity... but if you don't follow them, then you are sentenced to an eternity of hell, with fire, and burning, and bile, and piss, and suffer forever and ever...but He loves you...He loves you and he NEEDS MONEY!!!!!!" (George Carlin does rule).
