    telnet guide is confusing

    it says "The first step that you need to take is to identify your local dialup port.
    This is done by dialing 1-800-424-9494 (1200 7E1) and connecting." how do i do this? any help is welcome. thank you for your time

    Quite possibly the guide you're reading is for telenet which AFAIK was some sort of old BBS-style network (we're talking old here)

    I know nothing about this telenet, except that it is completely different from telnet which is an internet protocol

    i would like to thank you for your information. Especially slarty and ntsa. after rechecking that file, it said it was made in 88. thank you once again

    another stupid question but this is really bothering me. is telnet the same as telenet?

    This is digging way back in the dusty recesses of my memory with a few cobwebs thrown in for good measure. Telnet is obviously an Internet application. Telenet was, if memory serves, a BBS and/or Modem communications sofware package/protocol.

    telenet is also a broad band isp in belgium

    its just asking for the host network, as said above computuing was one dial in to access services, but all you really need to do is enter the ip address in, and the standard port (23).

    just get some practice in by using your c:\windows\telnet.exe (telnet client) and hackerslab

    That file by MOD. wow, long time ago. Check out the book "Masters of Deception" if you want to read about some old hacking tales. Great read. I'm sure you can find it on http://half.ebay.com for cheap. As far as Telenet... yeah, outdated, peace.
